Osmora Scientific Glossary
LC-MS (liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry)
An analytical approach that couples liquid chromatographic separation with mass-spectrometric detection, so that components separated by chromatography are then analyzed by their mass-to-charge ratio.
In plain language
A combined method: first separate the mixture by chromatography, then weigh the pieces by mass spectrometry.
Why it matters in research
Coupling separation with mass detection lets the two techniques provide complementary information in one workflow.
Where you'll encounter it
Combined analytical results and method descriptions.
