Osmora Scientific Glossary
HPLC (high-performance liquid chromatography)
An analytical separation technique in which a sample dissolved in a liquid mobile phase is pumped under pressure through a column packed with a stationary phase; components separate according to their differing interactions with the two phases and are recorded by a detector.
In plain language
A method that separates the components of a mixture so each can be seen and measured, producing a chromatogram.
Why it matters in research
HPLC is the method most often used to produce a peptide purity figure.
Where you'll encounter it
COA purity fields and method sections.
