Osmora Scientific Glossary
Purity
The proportion of a sample represented by the target substance, commonly reported for peptides as the percentage of total detected peak area attributable to the main peak under a stated HPLC method (area-percent method).
In plain language
How much of the sample is the intended substance versus related impurities, as measured by a specific method.
Why it matters in research
Purity is method-dependent and describes relative composition only; it does not by itself address safety, sterility, or activity.
Where you'll encounter it
The headline figure on most peptide COAs.
