Osmora Scientific Glossary

Batch

A defined quantity of material produced in a single process run under uniform conditions; the unit to which batch-level testing and traceability apply. Often used interchangeably with 'lot'.

In plain language

One production run of a material, tested as a unit.

Why it matters in research

Analytical results are batch-specific; results from one batch do not transfer to another.
